Found Woodcuts

An ongoing project that involves the inking and printing of "woodcuts" that have been incidentally marked through the processes of construction or manufacture. All pieces were "found" in the sense that I did not create the markings myself but simply printed them on rice paper in the traditional woodcut style. These works are meant to capture "histories of work" through the arbitrary markings left behind from the processes of labour.

University work - Oeuvres réalisées dans un contexte académique

Some paintings and drawings from my 3rd and 4th years at U.B.C. My work at the time dealt with issues of masculinity, work (both artistic and manual labour), and the (sub)urban landscape.

Quelques peintures et dessins réalisés lors de mes troisièmes et quatrièmes années à U.B.C. Ma démarche de l’époque était axée sur les thèmes de la masculinité, du travail (aussi bien artistique et le travail manuel) et des paysages urbains / suburbains.

4th year show - Exposition de quatrième année

An installation piece involving oil paint, wood, re-bar, spray paint, and kool-aid. Shown in U.B.C.'s art gallery.

Installation réalisée avec de la peinture à l’huile, du bois, des morceaux d’armature à ciment métallique « re-bar », de la peinture aérosol et du « kool aid ». Oeuvres présentées dans la galerie d’art de U.B.C.
